Guest Post: Creation of a Love Story

Hi guys, I thought I would do something different this week and spotlight an author, please go give this author some love and check out her books! You all own my heart ๐Ÿ’–

Meet Cynthia

Creating romantic fiction has been a passion of mine, ever since I was old enough to understand the connection between the sexes.  I think I was twelve, when I wrote my first love story and like most young minds; I truly thought it was a masterpiece.

There’s another masterful connection that has been going on now for centuries, and that, is the one between music and literature.  There is a full alphabet of songs that have been written retelling a work of literature as far back as the 18th century.

“If I Die Young” by The Band Perry was based on a poem, Lady of Shallot.  “Love Story” by Taylor Swift is loosely based on Romeo & Juliet.  The artist Sting’s “Moon Over Bourbon Street” was based on an Anne Rice Novel, Interview With A Vampire.

More interesting though, the anatomy of a song has also within its lyrics a pretty fascinating back story as well.  For more than five decades, authors have been creating fictional pieces and bringing readers deep inside the lyrics.  I grew up listening to my mom’s collection of romantic ballads from the 40s, 50s, and 60s.  Those lyrics have forever been embossed into my brain, I still sing along whenever I hear them.  Lyrics like those back then told a story, and they were so strong, and emotional, their affect were everlasting.

I have a library of love songs on iTunes I listen to religiously, while I write, as a source of inspiration and a tool that gets me in the mood and mindset I need to be in.  It is from this list, I began to formulate a series of ideas, followed by cryptic notes on paper, and finally the creation of my Love Song Standards Series.  I made a list of the songs I connected with personally, whittling it down to thirty-five.  That number was quite overwhelming and I thought virtually impossible to create that many scenarios.  So, I chipped away at the songs and their lyrics, until I decided on a top ten.

I had made a commitment to myself to finish one book a month throughout 2016, writing a chapter every day, leaving me ample time to polish and edit each one.  I knew from the on-start, what I wanted my covers to look like.  They had to resemble each other in a way that would tie them together, but strong enough for them to stand on their own.  My designer Covers by Ramona did an exceptional job tying all my ideas together.

After Book 6, Chances Are, was completed, my brain was fried.  I took a short reprieve and switched it up a bit with a Romantic Suspense, A Pawn for Malice.  Happily, the first two books of my series received a 5-Star Readers Favorite Award, which ended my promotion efforts.  I was forced to take an extended break due to personal issues that had set me back both physically and emotionally.  My focus now is to both promote my series and finish the final four titles All The Way, It’s Impossible, Sincerely, and Unforgettable.

If you’re a lover of contemporary romance, please do check out my Love Song Standards Series.  I know you’ll be pleasantly pleased.  Buy links and descriptions are available on my website at  If you subscribe to my mailing list, we can stay in touch as to when the other titles are completed PLUS you’ll receive a complimentary copy of Book 1, Unchained Melody.  All that I ask is for you to please, please share an honest review at the online retailer you use most. It will help me dramatically towards promoting my book and the series.

Hugs from me to you.

Thank you to Cynthia for this amazing post! Check with you guys soon!

Happy reading!

The Year of Saying Yes: Part 3

Title: The Year of Saying Yes: Part 3
Author: Hannah Doyle
Published: 26th January 2017
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: YES

Join Izzy on her journey from January blues to joy. Hannah Doyle's THE YEAR OF SAYING YES will make you dirty-laugh, feel warm and fuzzy, and rediscover life's magic - all thanks to one little word: yes. Fans of Lindsey Kelk, Mhairi McFarlane and Lucy-Anne Holmes, you're in for a real treat.
The third of four exclusive part-serialisations of THE YEAR OF SAYING YES by Hannah Doyle. What's next in Izzy's adventure?
Dear Readers
Ahoy there! Welcome to Part Three of my 'Year of Saying Yes' which is shaping up to be a corker. I've been chock-a-block with your dares:
- I'm now a health guru (I officially know what an 'alfafa sprout' is... bow before me)
- I faced my fears and shared my wisdom with others #realtalk
- After years of resenting Princess Perfect Pants - aka my sister, Olivia - we finally made up. In Paris, no less. Trรจs bon!
But it hasn't all been green smoothies and gadding about in gay Paris. There I was, floating on Cloud Nine with the man I thought was my dream guy until I crashed down to earth with a big fat bump when I discovered a big fat secret. Ouch.
But don't fear, ye of little faith! New Izzy is made of tough stuff. Right?
Izzy xx

Stay tuned! Up next Izzy says yes to her hardest challenges yet. She learns to be brutally honest, sassy as hell , and brave in matters of the heart...

And so we continue this epic journey with Izzy. I am actually really sad. I can't believe after this there is just one more book. I don't want this to end....

Izzy is back with more challenging dares, this may be her hardest and emotional one yet. In the second book, we are introduced to Melissa who is a health guru just opened a new shop, the Glow Cafe, I really loved her especially because not only does she give some useful health tips she urges us to eat whatever we feel like but at the same time encourages us to be a little more healthy.

Izzy is dared to learn a new skill, she goes to this cooking course with her best friend Jamie. I am really beginning to love her co workers, Emma and Lucy. Emma because she is so supportive and encouraging and Lucy because she is so demanding she does not take no for a answer. Between these two they are quite a force to be reckon with, throw Jamie in there and you don't want to mess with these three. Her emotional reconnection with her sister Olivia in Paris might make you cry.

Izzy also learns a devastating secret in this book, I cannot believe this happened but I guess this was bound to happen. I really hope she is okay but I can't take the suspense anymore. I honestly love the authors writing. I don't feel like I am reading at all, I am flying by these books.

The Year of Saying Yes: Part 2

Title: The Year of Saying Yes: Part 2
Author: Hannah Doyle
Published: 12th January 2017
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: YES!

The second of four exclusive part-serialisations of THE YEAR OF SAYING YES by Hannah Doyle. Izzy's one-in-a-million story continues...

Dear Readers

Welcome back! It's Izzy (or should I say New Izzy) reporting for duty. It's time for Part Two of my 'Year of Saying Yes'.

Thanks to your amazing challenges and fabulous feedback, I've been up to all sorts over the past few months. Drumroll please...

- I asked a total stranger for his number (what can I say, he was hot and wearing a pirate's hat)

- I modelled for a life drawing class (yes, starkers!)

- And somehow I performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury *gulp*

All this gallivanting around means that the new, improved me is in full flow. And guess what? For the first time in forever I have an actual LOVE LIFE, with a real-life man! But in between the fun and frolics there's been a whole lot of #drama.

Buckle up, guys, we're in for a bumpy ride...

Izzy x

Don't miss the next dose of THE YEAR OF SAYING YES! In Part 3 Izzy faces her fears, becomes a culinary queen and reconnects with her frenemy.

Here we enter Part 2 of Izzy's story and the fabulousness continues.

In this book you start to see a real change in Izzy, she is much more confident, acts carefree and actually learns to live her life and make it count. Not that she didn't before but I think she has confident issues and is insecure about herself, like the way she didn't want to go to her natural hair colour in the first book? This time she is owning it.

Jaime has a drinking problem, her doctor warns her if she doesn't stop she is in danger of damaging her liver. Izzy is too busy in her own life to notice how she is failing to be there for her bff. Her love life is getting too complicated and before you know it spirals out of control. However, we finally learn Nathan is able to comprehend a sentence as FINALLY he and Izzy start to from a friendship especially when they go to Glastonbury. Which reminds me...OMG her dancing she does with the band Grammaticas, Art, Boris and Lucas are so cool, my favourite would be Art. I just love his laid back attitude and he doesn't care what anyone else thinks.

Izzy and Nathan's dancing is so funny, although I never saw it I sure did imagine it in my head which in itself made me fall out of the bed laughing.

Although, her relationship with George starts off well, I am beginning to think he is a bit of douche since he really has some problems with Izzy doing certain challenges. What an idiot. And oh my sweet Alex, you are misunderstanding between Nathan and Izzy. DON'T DO IT!!!

Waiting on Wednesday: The Last Namsara

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: The Last Namsara
Author: Kristen Ciccarelli
Series: Iskari #1
Release Date: 3rd October 2017

In the beginning, there was the Namsara: the child of sky and spirit, who carried love and laughter wherever he went. But where there is light, there must be dark—and so there was also the Iskari. The child of blood and moonlight. The destroyer. The death bringer.

These are the legends that Asha, daughter of the king of Firgaard, has grown up hearing in hushed whispers, drawn to the forbidden figures of the past. But it isn’t until she becomes the fiercest, most feared dragon slayer in the land that she takes on the role of the next Iskari—a lonely destiny that leaves her feeling more like a weapon than a girl.

Asha conquers each dragon and brings its head to the king, but no kill can free her from the shackles that await at home: her betrothal to the cruel commandant, a man who holds the truth about her nature in his palm. When she’s offered the chance to gain her freedom in exchange for the life of the most powerful dragon in Firgaard, she finds that there may be more truth to the ancient stories than she ever could have expected. With the help of a secret friend—a slave boy from her betrothed’s household—Asha must shed the layers of her Iskari bondage and open her heart to love, light, and a truth that has been kept from her.

OMG!!! Have you looked at this cover??? I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and the synopsis just makes me want to collapse!!! *faints*

The Year of Saying Yes: Part 1

Title: The Year of Saying Yes: Part 1
Author: Hannah Doyle
Published: 15th December 2016
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: YES!

Join Izzy on her journey from January blues to joy. THE YEAR OF SAYING YES by Hannah Doyle will make you dirty-laugh, feel warm and fuzzy, and rediscover life's magic - all thanks to one little word: yes. Fans of Lindsey Kelk, Mhairi McFarlane and Lucy-Anne Holmes, you're in for a real treat.
The first of four exclusive part-serialisations of THE YEAR OF SAYING YES by Hannah Doyle.
Dear Readers
It's drizzling outside, which totally matches my #currentmood. Pigs in blankets, all the mince pies and a festive Baileys or five are distant memories. You know the drill - it's January. Everyone's banning booze (terrible idea) or cutting carbs (impossible). To add to the misery pile, my plans to seduce the man of my dreams at the stroke of midnight flopped spectacularly.
I'm Izzy. I don't just need a New Year resolution, I need a whole new life. And I need YOU. My dreary life is about to get a total makeover - it's my 'Year of Saying Yes'. And this is where you come in. It's up to you to #DareIzzy. I'm saying yes to your challenges, no matter how nuts, adventurous or wild they are. The sky's the limit - I'm at your mercy, readers!
Wish me luck. I have a feeling I'm going to need it.

Izzy x

Don't miss Part 2 of Izzy's adventure, where Izzy is challenged to ask a total stranger for his number, pose naked for a life drawing class and, wait for it... perform at Glastonbury!

This book is exactly as the title suggests, it is a rom com as well as LOL. Prepare yourself readers you will be in hysterics in laughter until your belly hurts. I FREAKING LOVED THIS SERIES SO MUCH! HOW IS IT THAT SUCH A SHORT BOOK IS MY FAVOURITE OF 2017???? I truly have no idea but however it is, I am glad I found it. I feel like I have reunited with my old love. *happily sighs*

Izzy who has been in love with Gorgeous George for the past three years (he is actually her brother in law's brother), during the Christmas she has a to do list on what to do and how to not mess it up. However, unfortunate for Izzy things don't go to plan for her as George reveals he has a girlfriend, Temple.

Talulah, their feisty editor is looking to bring the magazine sales up, Izzy sparks a great idea and before you know it she has her first feature, The Year of Saying Yes, where her readers come up with dares that she has to try. She gets her readers to use the hashtag, #DareIzzy. Along this awesome and life changing journey she has her best co workers, Lucy and Emma along with her best friend Jamie to help her along the way.

One thing I should mention before I forget, THE BEST SCENE IN THE WHOLE BOOK IS WHEN SHE MEETS ALEX!! OMG!!! I just want to cry laughing whilst thinking about it. Alex is so lovely and great, I really love him!

This book is a year long journey and has three chapters in each book, hence 4 books.

I have to thank S&S, I would have never discovered the author or this amazing series if it was not for them! I really loved this book!

Truthwitch Book Review + Giveaway (Intl)

O-M-G- HOW IS IT THAT MY BLOG TURNS THREE AND I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER!!!!๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Isn't it so like wow, that went quick? I don't even know where the time went? Oh yeah I went in drooling over books! So in honour of my late blog anniversary, I have planned a giveaway, I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

Title: Truthwitch
Author: Susan Dennard
Published: 5th January 2016
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: YES

In a continent on the edge of war, two witches hold its fate in their hands.

Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home.

Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she's a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden - lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult's true powers are hidden even from herself.

In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls' heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom, but danger lies ahead. With war coming, treaties breaking and a magical contagion sweeping the land, the friends will have to fight emperors and mercenaries alike. For some will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review, thank you to the publisher

This book has been on my self to read like. Forever. I am not even joking. And I don't even know why I took so long either. *sighs*

Truthwitch is an epic tale about to two friends turned into sisters who have each other's backs. Safi and Iseult. Safi is a Truthwitch that means she can tell when someone is lying. Iseult is a Threadwitch, she can kind of see how you are feeling based on the colour of your thread (it reminds me of those magical elements where in other books they can see your aura's and know how you are feeling). These two young ladies always seem to find themselves in to trouble, and now they have to go far away from their homes.

It isn't quite often you get to read a book where the characters are nothing you expect them to be, they constantly surprise you, Safi and Iseult are exactly like that. Iseult powers are different, she is different, she is never able to do what others in her tribe can do, yet as you read the story you can see the underlying theme of there something being more, something dark and powerful. And I think it is the same case with Safi? I am not sure yet.

I ended up liking Adeuan and Merrik more than I thought I would. They are both totally different, have different visions of what they would like to do. Adeuan being a bloodwitch can trace anyone just with the scent of their blood, he also has extraordinary powers such as being able to control his own and others blood. WOAH! Right? And Merrik, although he is I think it is a Waterwitchery but his powers are not as strong as his thread brother Kullens are.

Such phenomenal characters create such a diverse and special world for the reader, all it wants you to do is be captured in to their world and just live and breathe their words.

I loved the constant ups and downs, constantly not knowing which direction the plot would take me. Although I admit it was kind of hard to get in to the book, I guess because I was seeing such good praise everywhere I felt pressured to like the book and I did not want to not like the book. As it turned out, all I needed to do was it give it time because I love the first book so much, so happy the second one has just released now I don't have to wait so long!

WAIT THERE IS MORE..... You have a chance to win a paperback copy of Truthwitch!!!! Can I hear someone scream YES??? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹

The Hundredth Queen

Title: The Hundredth Queen
Author: Emily R. King
Publishing: 1st June 2017
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: HELL YES

As an orphan ward of the Sisterhood, eighteen-year-old Kalinda is destined for nothing more than a life of seclusion and prayer. Plagued by fevers, she’s an unlikely candidate for even a servant’s position, let alone a courtesan or wife. Her sole dream is to continue living in peace in the Sisterhood’s mountain temple.

But a visit from the tyrant Rajah Tarek disrupts Kalinda’s life. Within hours, she is ripped from the comfort of her home, set on a desert trek, and ordered to fight for her place among the rajah’s ninety-nine wives and numerous courtesans. Her only solace comes in the company of her guard, the stoic but kind Captain Deven Naik.

Faced with the danger of a tournament to the death—and her growing affection for Deven—Kalinda’s only hope for escape lies in an arcane, forbidden power that’s buried within her.

In Emily R. King’s thrilling fantasy debut, an orphan girl blossoms into a warrior, summoning courage and confidence in her fearless quest to upend tradition, overthrow an empire, and reclaim her life as her own.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review, thank you to the publisher

GUYS!!!! I am not sure how I am going to recover from this, if you at look my Twitter page I am still emotionally a mesh *sighs* I am such a mess for so many reasons, this book gave me everything that I didn't know I wanted; love, romance, hope, friendship, bravery, a badass heroine, cute hot guys! How does one recover from such awesomeness???? *sobbing*

I can't go on, no Elsa I can't just let it go

Kalinda has no idea who her parents are, brought up in the sisterhood in the Samiya temple. She is shown to have fevers for quite a long time until Healer Bala found a tonic that seems to keep them at bay. Recovering a little, Kali tries to catch up on her fighting skills (she is considered the weak one) with Jaya. Unknown to her, someone very important comes to claim one of the girls from the sisterhood, for others this may be good news but these two best friends don't want to be separated. Kali and Natesa both get claimed. Kali is supposed to be the embodiment of the land goddess, Ki in the form of Enlil's hundredth rani. Things get really interesting when the tournaments begins, Kali has to defend the Rajah's throne as she is his 'champion'. Will Kali defeat her opponents especially Lakia and become rani?

You know what I most loved about this book? Captain Naik A.K.A Deven, he is sooooo dreamy. Oh gosh, I wish he was real I would marry him. He is just soo sweet and selfless. He supports Kali 100% even if it is something that he doesn't agree on, for them there is only each other no one else.

Kali is brave, fierce, incredibly loyal and not afraid to do what she think is right. I loved her more every moment she saw something cruel happening and stood up for justice whether that was for herself or someone else, she is truly a hero!

I haven't read much books about the Indian culture (which I think it is) but I loved every moment of this book and what it symbolised. Reading the very first sentence just left me wanting more, it was very hard to put the book down. I just kept telling myself 'one more chapter' and before you know it I finished the book. Even now I am like what am I meant to do now? I don't want to read any other book I want book 2! You can't just end the book like that Emily! WHY ARE YOU TORTURING ME!

*GOOD NEWS* I just saw the second book will be releasing in September! Yes I don't have to wait long for #kalen

Black Dawn

Title: Black Dawn
Author: Mallory McCartney
Published: 14th February 2017
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: YES

The end of an Empire, The rise of a Queen

Emory Fae enjoys leading a quiet, normal life. That is until two mysterious, and handsome soldiers show up at her apartment, and the life she knew is instantly whisked away. Memphis Carter and Brokk Foster come from the magical and war ridden world of Kiero, and upon Emory's arrival she will discover she is the long lost heir to the Royal Line and is thrown into the Black Dawn Rebellion with a dynamic role to ignite the rebels and reclaim her throne.

With both men being darkly woven in her past Emory uncovers hidden secrets, a power held long dormant, and will soon realize there are worse things than supernatural humans, love, loss, betrayal, and a Mad King.

Some things are better left in the shadows.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review,

OMG! GUYS!!! How in the world do I explain myself to you without revealing anything? This book might have been a short read BUT it was so much more than that! I was on the edge of my bed the whole time I was reading this! Honestly some of the things that are revealed I did not expect.

Emory, Brokk and Memphis are childhood best friends. They all grew up together in the academy (we get to witness some sweet as well as foreshadowing moments leading up to the present), but what we aren't told in the beginning is what does Adair want? What is the secret behind the book?
When Adair kills Emory parents and destroys her kingdom, she comes to Memphis and Brokk for help so they whisk her away to Earth with all memories of her past forgotten, that is until she is abducted by Memphis and Brokk 6 years later.

Let's get back to the review shall we?

Brokk and Memphis are incredibly loyal to each other, the Academy, their rulers vision and to Emory. They do everything within they power to protect their kind and restore the kingdom to its once glory by the true heir, Emory.

Brokk is what I guess you could describe as part-wolf (as he can transform in to it) but he also has the ability to travel back in time, specifically those that are connected to him. He is incredibly sweet and caring (I wish Mallory would enter me in the book I would gladly be his other half). Leader and second in command to Memphis, Brokk would do anything for those he deeply cares about.

Memphis has been in love forever with his best friend. Although he breaks from one relationship and sort of enters another, I didn't really like that but we are told he has been in love with Emory since they were kids. I truly did want to hate Memphis, I along with the other characters felt like everything he did was for himself really but I assume there is more to the story than meets the eye but he is dedicated and incredibly loyal.

Emory is a feisty one, I really love that about her. She grows in to her powers really quick with the help of Nyx (not sure how I feel about her). Even though she has not gained her memory fully she is willing to do whatever it takes to save her kingdom and her people. I have to be honest here, I really was hoping her romantic interest was someone else and I was rooting for him until that devastating secret is revealed. Now I know they can't be together but that doesn't mean he can't be with me right? XD.

Isla's got the designer clothes and dream job as head stylist at the most exclusive salon in Edinburgh. The fact that she's been so single-minded in this quest that she's forgotten to have a life has completely passed her by - until disaster strikes.
With her flaky flat mate AWOL and even her reliable old dad a bit distracted, Isla is out of options.
Forced into a corner, she heads to the remote island of Auchenmor to help out her aunt who is in desperate need of an extra pair of hands at her salon.
Finn is thirty-five and reality has just hit him hard. Now his best friends are about to have a baby and everything is changing. When into his life walks Isla . .

I am actually not so sure about this book, I am normally all in for these books however I kind of found Isla annoying at the same time as feeling sorry for her. I have to admit, I kind of hated Chantelle, I am not sure who fault is was for the colour mix up when Isla does Kat's hair but I do know in reality would a stylist honestly be sacked for this? I really did love when she sends those drunken texts to her though, I really did feel like giving her a punch.

I felt really bad for Isla, she loses everything in what seems 24 hours even her flat mate who is supposed to be from a wealthy family kind of annoyed me because all she did was party not really caring about anything.

Luckily, her dad comes to the rescue although I found him kind of pushy and disliked when he made the decision for Isla to help her aunt at the island but maybe this is exactly what she needed and Finn.
We aren't really given much about their relationship except that he is a sculptor, his introduction scene is really funny, I really LOL!!!! *wipes tears from my eyes*. Not sure if I will continue with this series, I feel like I have already read this story before and it didn't really hook me in as I wanted it to.

Time to Win

Title: Time to Win

The first in an unmissable crime series from an exciting new voice in the genre - think Raymond Chandler meets The Sopranos in Great Yarmouth.

'The Godfather in Great Yarmouth' Ian Rankin

'A winner on all counts' Megan Abbott

When local crime boss Richard Goodwin is pulled from the river by his office it looks like suicide. But as his widow Tatiana feared, Rich collected enemies like poker chips, and half of Great Yarmouth's criminal fraternity would have had reason to kill him.

Realising how little she knows about the man she married, Tatty seeks to uncover the truth about Rich's death and take over the reins of the family business, overseeing a waterfront casino deal Rich hoped would put Yarmouth on the map.

Out of the shadows at last, it is Tatty's time now, and she isn't going to let Rich's brother, or anyone else, stand in her way. But an American has been in town asking the right people the wrong questions, more bodies turn up, along with a brutal new gang. The stakes have never been higher.

With her family to protect, and a business to run, Tatty soon learns that power comes with a price . . .

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review

Oh wow, this is the kind of book that makes you question everything in the world and trust no one. And I do mean no one. This is anything unlike I have ever read and I loved every minute of it, I ended up reading this in one sitting.

After the demise of Rich, everything is in chaos, the business, the family, his friends and everything he worked towards. Everyone just seems to have their own agenda and only care about themselves, it is also intriguing the way Rich dies, your constantly left in 'how, what?' mode. Nothing seems to make sense but then it does...

Tatty really surprised me, I expected her to be one of those weak characters who really just cry all the time, that can be a little off putting. But she is nothing like that, she is strong, hot headed, resilient, stubborn and really finds herself after Rich dies. There are a lot of things she doesn't know about her husband Rich, but she really rises up to the situation to take care of things and her family.

Another character that really I adored was Frank, I really admire people who are incredibly loyal even after the person dies, it is not a very easy thing to do so I have great respect for people who do it. He might seem big and intimidating for his size, but he really does care and would do anything for those he loves.

The plot takes an interesting twist as Rich is shown to be playing the game, knowing how to bend the rules and where to avoid any suspicions whilst also gaining his own advantage. He is involved in every crime possible; drug dealing, money laundering, fraud etc. Everything becomes a problem once he dies and secrets come to the surface. The pace was a little slow at the beginning, but you get quite hooked in to the story early on (Ben and Sam are exceptional characters and I love their support for their mother Tatty- both of them are awesome).

I have never read any of Brett's books before, but I completely fell in love with his style of writing. I love how equally dark and alluring the cover as well as the story is, it is mysterious but it grabs you by the throat and compels you to finish the story.

Time to Win is a dark compelling story that once you start reading you can't put it down, it is exceptional in captivating its audience with its twisted tale and ruthless characters.

Until next time my friends! :) sure to check the other stops on the tour!
